How I Stopped Saying ‘I’m Fine’ and Started Healing My Mind

I remember the moment clearly—because it looked like nothing.

Emails were answered.
Deadlines were met.
Everyone in my house was doing okay.
There was food in the fridge and gas in the car.

By all appearances, I should have been cruising—grateful, productive, maybe even joyful.

But instead, I sat at my desk, bouncing between five tabs, rereading the same sentence three times, forgetting what I was looking for, and then going back to my inbox as if that would fix it.

Nothing was particularly wrong.
But something was very off.

And when you’re someone who has lived through actual trauma, real burnout, and full-body inflammation, this level of off-ness is easy to overlook. It’s the gray zone—the whisper before the storm.

It’s the kind of day where you can’t quite call it a crisis, so you just try to power through it… and lose hours to “fine.”

But that day, I didn’t power through.
I pivoted.

Here’s What I Did Differently (And You Can Too)

I gave myself a Resilience Reset—a short sequence I now use to prevent fine from turning into fog.
It’s based on a strategy I call “Finding the Missing Variable,” from my toolkit, The Doubt Advantage.

Instead of blaming myself for the lack of focus, I got curious. I asked one simple question:
What variable is missing right now that would make clarity possible again?

And the answer that day wasn’t sexy or spiritual.
It was: Magnesium.

Followed by: Water.
Then: Quiet.

I didn’t need to journal my way to enlightenment. I needed to support my nervous system, get out of my chair, and reconnect to what I knew but had forgotten:
That clarity isn’t a character trait.
It’s a biological event.

So I took my supplements. I walked outside for 11 minutes. I breathed in through my nose and out through my mouth. I turned off Slack and put my phone on airplane mode for 90 minutes.

I didn’t get everything done that day.
But I got myself back.

Micro-Tip from The Doubt Advantage™:

Reframe fine.
“Fine” isn’t the goal.
It’s your body waving a flag that says, You’re missing something essential. Please look again.

That something could be sleep, protein, hydration, sunlight, a walk, a stretch, a cry, a laugh, or connection.
One of those is your missing variable. Go find it.

That moment is what led me to create the 12-Week Resilience Reset, a pharmacist-guided program for people who look “fine” but feel mentally fried. It’s about inflammation, fatigue, and the little-known biological factors behind burnout—and it’s not a mindset makeover. It’s a protocol.
